Desktop dimming

Desktop dimming: after 2 hours of working, not connected to the mains, the
screen dimmed. Jolly good, the power management was working! I plugged the
laptop into its charger; the power icon indicated that the laptop was now
connected to the mains. However, the display remained dimmed, regardless of
my attempts to get it to light up again. The only way to get the screen to
brighten up again,  was to log out and log back in again.
This would appear to be a user unfriendly act which severely
interrupts one's train of thought when one is actually working.
The power monitoring needs some attention.
This behaviour is found in some earlier versions ov Q4OS.
