New Raspberry Pi Q4OS user - screensaver not starting?

Hello all and a happy Sunday to you!

Been playing around with my new Raspberry Pi 4 for the last week or so, changing OS's like underwear!

I've settled on Q4OS since it is the most feature rich at the lowest footprint, well done to all the devs!

Anyway, I think, somewhere along the line of my fettling, I have broken my screensaver.

I was attempting to make it power off the screen after running the screensaver for 5 minutes and no matter what I tried I couldn't get it to work (tried using tde-powersave and the inbuilt bits from Trinity/KDE via Monitor & Display in control centre), so I rolled back everything I had tried & decided to settle on just having to turn the damn screen off manually (like a Neanderthal).

Except..now my screensaver (Trinity/KDE inbuilt) won't launch after the 10 minute timer has passed.

The screensaver daemon is running, I can set up a hotcorner for screen locking & that works just fine but it still won't activate after 10 minutes.

What do-dad did I break? :-/
