I must admit I am puzzled as to how this is going to affect Linux

Will it kill off Qt based apps? what will happen to KDE?
Any ideas anyone?

Ive been watching to see KDE'S reaction to this and ultimately I think QT will have to modify their stance.

I have no idea how KDE license their use of Qt at the moment, but unless they're in some sort of reciprocal development partnership or other arrangement then it would seem inevitable that they're going to have to cough up sooner or later - or wait for a fork to come along. ![]()

This has been going on for quite awhile,

I first noticed a mention of this back on 1/27/20 on the QT website blog.

At no point has KDE EVER specifically used a LTS version of QT, so it most likely will not affect them. For end users, as long as it works, who cares, so it won't affect them. The only people this change is likely to affect is companies who write software that uses QT, and prefer to use LTS versions so they don't have to update regularly.
