HP TouchSmart Sound Problem

Installed 32 bit Q4OS with Trinity desktop on a HP2133 notebook computer.  Headphones and bluetooth audio work great but the built-in speakers do not.  The 2133 uses the VIA chip set.  The sound device is a VIA VT8237A/VT8251 HDA Controller.  KMix recognizes the controller and provides it as an option in the pull down menu.  I've found some various fixes for other Linux builds by adding a line or two of code but none seem to apply to Q4OS.  Evidently the built-in speakers in some HP laptops can also be pin specific.  A Linux newbie here to so any help would be appreciated.
