Does this use systemd or one of its substitutes?
I'm downloading it 897 MB or so in a bit slow connection... 5 % now, in the meantime want to ask: Is the Q4OS using systemd or one of its substitutes?

Yes, as Q4OS is based on Debian, it uses Debian's systemd subsystem.
