Info about Q4OS team/GitHub

Are you guys planning to post some background info about yourselves? Of course, you don't have to tell us all your secrets, just basic info -- example. wink I think this might add to transparency, especially if you want to find some business partners...

Have you ever considered moving to, for instance, GitHub? I'm not sure if others will agree (add you comments, please), but SourceForge seems to have its best years behind it.

Re: Info about Q4OS team/GitHub

The devs per their last comments arent going to post details on themselves for now.  Theres another thread I believe on this topic where they replied in depth.

Yes, GitHub could be an applicable hosting for Q4OS, we are thinking about it. Nonetheless, SourceForge has some benefits for us at the moment, for example direct ssh remote access, we are not sure, if GutHub provides it as well.

Is this enough for your SSH access needs? Generally, GitHub seems to be more attractive to developers (I don't know if you're looking for new ones), and apart from that SF.net had some serious company image issues in the past.

I'm not sure I would agree with that, I think it has proved to be a reliable and robust environment and I have never had any problems getting downloads or anything from there. Also just because it's not the newest, shiniest thing around doesn't mean it should be forgotten, many good products have emerged from Sourceforge.

Just to clarify I'm not saying Git-Hub is worse than Sourceforge in any way, simply that I have a philosophy with important things (like my OS)... if it aint broke don't fix it. smile

Re: Info about Q4OS team/GitHub

GitHub was recently hacked and user accounts were compromised so not sure its necessarily a great choice.  I have nothing against GitHub but SourceForge Ive had a good experience with over the years, having run a few Linux related websites.
