no wlan connect

hi
my install of q4os-2.3.5-x64 works fine on a Asrock J3455B-itx.
using a wlan dongle i can see all wlan SSID but can not connect.
changing to another wlan dongle - the same.
q4os-2.3.5-x64 on an older computer, wlan connects to the same network.
Any idea ? thanks

Re: no wlan connect

We would recommend you to check wireless connection using terminal command 'nmcli' and post back a terminal output. We will provide more detailed instructions here in a few hours.

Re: no wlan connect

my suggestion was wrong. it does not to belong to apollo lake.
an old computer shows me the same behavior.

with old computer and q4os-live-1.8.8-x64 wlan connect works in live modus, but after installation, with network manager, again no connection possible. i haven no idea. maybe something strange with the network here...

Re: no wlan connect

At first, it would be worth to try to restart your wireless access point. It could be a case of some secured configurations, that the wireless router connects Q4OS booted from live CD, but if you want to connect once again from an installed system, the router refuses this attempt as it realizes connection from the same hardware MAC address, but with another low level authorization.

Please post back, if the above would not help, we can assist you more with the 'nmcli' command utilization.

Update: We can confirm, there is a glitch in Network Manager, please see for example https://askubuntu.com/questions/902992/ … s-changing

It's possible to fix it quite easily, thanks Dai_trying for the solution http://www.q4os.org/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=9197#p9197

Re: no wlan connect

I have this chipset in a usb wifi device and need to use the driver package from GitHub. I have installed it on a few different machines that I use the usb device and they all work flawlessly. I can use the default driver but usually lose connection after a short time, this may also be the case for you. smile
