There should be an option on the welcome screen to unlock advanced control panel i.e. "sudo kcmodules --unlock", so it is easier to unlock advanced control panel options.

Disagree on this! Advanced options are locked by default to prevent novice users from damaging their desktop environment. Also they are unneeded for most people.

Agree Rademes, its best to keep them locked.

I only unlock them to help users having issues, but normally I don't need them open for my own use.

I've literally never had to use them on any of my installs thus far.

1st command after completing installation, there are so many bits I hate about the standard desktop config.
The design changes and styles deployed by the dev team may not be to everyone's taste - me included - and that is something I recall raising way back on more than one occasion. I think it may even have been when the forum was on Sourceforge.
As far as I know there is no irreparable harm that you can do with the config settings - and if you do break something then you learn from it and start again. As they say - Linux is free and if you break it you even get to keep the pieces.
However, I know that it will never happen and respect that it is the right of the dev team to design as they wish. Nevertheless I cannot help but wonder how many people have tried Q4 and gone away because they could not easily find how to make the most basic and available (elsewhere) changes to the UI?

Thats where they can inquire and get some help and we can help them avoid creating problems.
