Updating SlimJet

Does anyone know the command to update Slim Jet from the terminal...? The update on their website doesn't seem to be working...doing it from the terminal seems to be quicker and easier.

Re: Updating SlimJet

I don't use Slim Jet myself, but I just downloaded the installation deb file from their site ok, how do you normally get updates for it? do they have a repository that you have added?

EDIT:
According to their site you can just download the new version and install it over the top of the old one... I'm not sure how that works with deb files but I would imagine if you install from the tar.gz (source) file then it would be a simple as extracting the archive to the same folder as you currently use.

It's possible to simply install the new .deb file over an old one, so run in terminal:
$ sudo dpkg -i 'some_deb_file.deb'
it will do upgrade properly, in case the package is already installed.

Re: Updating SlimJet

When Slim jet opens,it tells you at the top,there is a new update available; I click on "yes" and it shows the turbo charge download. Then,it doesn't install. I tried it this way,several times,to no avail. I can find the downloaded files. How would I install them..? (What program would I use)..?

Just replace 'some_deb_file' with the name of the downloaded file (mine was slimjet_amd64.deb)
