WiFi Card Recommendation

Hi,

I am currently looking at adding a PCIe Half height card to my mobo.

Out of these two which would be better supported on Q4OS?

ATHEROS AR9287
INTEL 6205

Thanks!

Re: WiFi Card Recommendation

I currently use the Atheros AR9565 and it works fine, I also have other Atheros cards which also work well, I just scanned through my kit-list and cannot see any Intel Wifi devices so cannot offer comparison though.

Thanks - Atheros cards appear to be somewhat more penguin friendly smile

Re: WiFi Card Recommendation

Intel's are all supported perfectly in linux, but most do require non-free firmware.  They do tend to be the best performance in readily available wireless cards, though.  I try to make sure that anything I buy has Intel wifi (oddly, even my AMD powered laptop I use with q4os is Intel wifi) because I know it simply WORKS (although in this case, requries a 4.0+ kernel so I have to run backports kernel).
