Hei!
I have installed Q4OS on my old vista computer with 2GB RAM, 1,6 GH, 120 GB. But after rebooting, it is giving me few seconds to start writting in the user name and password and then freezes before I finish writting. Or just when I am about to place the cursor on the user name or trying to place ''login'', then nothing responds. I am new and don't understand anything. My mouse was working properly before installation... Save me...
Thanks for help.

Hi pamu, if this is a usb (or wireless) mouse you can try unplugging it and then plug it back in to see if it resets itself.

It's a pad mouse and keyboard on the laptop.

Did you use the live-cd for installation or the install only image?
If live-cd, did mouse-pad work ok from live session?
if installed from installation only iso could you try the live-cd and see if mouse-pad works ok in live session.

It's a computer without a CD room. So I used the usb.

Sorry I didn't word that very well, what I meant was did you use the live.iso image or the installation only iso image.
Put it this way did you boot the usb into a desktop and then click the desktop icon to install? or did you go straight into installation options when you booted the usb stick?

I downloaded the iso file in desktop of another computer, then used Rufus to prepare my bootable USB, then I put it in the computer in question, I restarted that computer, and chose the booting option F9 in this case... then it started installing.

Ok, you used the installation only iso image, if you have access to another machine it would be easiest to download the live iso image and burn that to your usb stick and we could find out what the problem might be from a live session.
First download the Q4OS LIVE-CD image from the Q4OS download page and then write that to your usb stick (using rufus is fine, I use it too), then boot your machine from that usb.
Once booted you will be in a live session and you can test your machine works correctly (or not). Test your mouse-pad and let us know if it works.

I used another machine when I fist downloaded it. Isn't live-CD?
Offline
No you used the installation only iso image.

When writing on the stick, should I leave the default options in Rufus as they are? cluster size should I change it ? of File system?
Offline
I usually just use the default options unless there is a good reason to change them.
Offline
last question, should I choose DD image mode or ISO image mode?
Offline
You can use either really, I usually use iso mode so I can see the files on the usb stick (for more advanced modification).

Hi!
I have tried, but it's installing just on the partition with 2 Gb, and leave the previous intallation untouched. I don't know why. but the mouse do work in live-cd. the problem becomes, when I restart the computer it goes back to the previous image installation which is freezing, and when working in live, it just install on the small partition. It's not giving me a option to install on the whole disk or do partition again.

You could look at my installation guide it should help with getting you up and running, pay attention to the part about partitioning your HDD and simply remove any unwanted partitions then run the installer again and you should end up with one running system. if there is anything you are unsure about just post and I will try to help.

Am I supposed to just use the Live-CD or the other ISO image? cause in live CD, I am not getting the option of partitioning the disk.

Use gparted from the live-cd to prepare your partitions, once you are happy with the layout then start installation (from the live-cd).

after installation comes, '' System is ready to download and install... language pack, you need an active Internet link'', The keyboard freezes again. I can't confirm 'yes''

OK, first then we will need a bit more information about your system, can you let us know the make/model of your machine, or you can post a link to the specs of your machine to help identify the components.

In addition, please try to press ctrl+alt+f1 key combination to check, if the system freezes completely. Maybe you will be able to login to the terminal console and then run following command:
$ reportq4
Attach generated debug file here or send it to support@q4os.org to analyze.
If the live cd works fine, we would guess it could be some kind of harddisk drive failure or SATA bus and some system component conflict. Do other operating systems, for example Debian, work fine on this machine ?

I had a similar issue with PS/2 mouse. I changed it to USB and this solved the problem.

Plug in a usb mouse and / or keyboard.
Could you post your machine make/model or specifications so we could know exactly what hardware you are using.
If you can boot a live-cd you can run the report that @Q4OS Team requested, also while in the live session you could install inxi
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install inxi
and then you could use the command
inxi -F
and post the output.
