Updater doesn't work

I have installed Q4OS on a very old laptop. I am very satisfied.
But the updater doesn't work. The red icon says there are many updates, but then the updater always gives error code 1004.
What can I do?

I have bypassed the problem  using the Konsole and writing apt-get upgrade.
