USB mouse stopped working after updates

I'm using a laptop from 2008 with a Core2Duo processor and 4GB RAM and Q4OS-3.12 operating system. Yesterday (December 7), after installing system updates, the USB mouse stopped working. The touchpad continues to work fine, but neither the wired nor the wireless mouses works. The same USB connectors with flash drives work fine.
When I rebooted into a live image from a USB flash drive, and the mouse worked there. I could not beat the problem and reinstalled the operating system from a live flash drive. At first, the mouse worked, but the operating system downloaded and installed updates at the end of the installation. After rebooting, I was again left without a mouse.

Re: USB mouse stopped working after updates

Debian kernel has been upgraded recently from "4.19.0-12" to "4.19.0-13" version. It could be the culprit. Do anyone else notice USB hardware related issues after the upgrade ?

Thanks for the tip! I checked that my system has two kernels - 4.19.0-13-amd64 and 4.19.0-10-amd64. When I switched GRUB to load the old kernel 4.19.0-10, the mouse worked fine.

Re: USB mouse stopped working after updates

Never thought, that Debian Stable kernel update could lead to such weird issues hmm
Now I will make system backup before upgrading the kernel...

Before asking for help please read this topic: https://www.q4os.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=3502   If you have problems with WiFi network, try to install the Network Manager using Q4OS Software Centre.

Thanks for the tip! I checked that my system has two kernels - 4.19.0-13-amd64 and 4.19.0-10-amd64. When I switched GRUB to load the old kernel 4.19.0-10, the mouse worked fine.

Today, after updating the kernel to version 4.19.0-14-amd64, the mouse works fine under this kernel. Rechecked: the mouse does not work under kernel 4.19.0-13-amd64. A bug has been fixed in the new version, it pleases.

Re: USB mouse stopped working after updates

No issue with 4.19.0-13 kernel and mouse and tried it on 2008-2010 laptops.

If it matters, my laptop is ASUS X50SL (Core 2 Duo T5550 1830MHz, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470, 4Gb DDR2)

Re: USB mouse stopped working after updates

One of the laptops I run it on is a Dell E6400 that has a core 2 duo 2.5ghz/ddr3  and Radeon graphics but no mouse issues.
