Clonezilla

I used Synaptic to install it but I do not see it anywhere n the list of applications to be run.  I checked Synaptic and it shows it as an installed application.  So I did a reinstall using Synaptic and still can't find it.

So what am I doing wrong?  Should I just try to run it in terminal? If so what is the command?

Do I need "root" privilege to find and run it since I now see it has root ownership in a system folder?

Running

$ apt-cache show clonezilla

gives

Clonezilla, based on drbl, partclone and udpcast, allows you to do
 bare metal backup and recovery. This package provides Clonezilla SE
 (server edition) which is for massive deployment: it can clone many
 (40 plus!) computers simultaneously.
 .
 Clonezilla saves and restores only used blocks in the harddisk. This
 increases the clone efficiency. At the NCHC's Classroom C, Clonezilla
 SE was used to clone 41 computers simultaneously. It took only about
 10 minutes to clone a 5.6 GBytes system image to all 41 computers via
 multicasting.

You can download a clonezilla .iso file from here too https://clonezilla.org/ which IMHO would be a lot easier; download, burn to a USB stick, boot and use. No complicated procedures are needed.

By the way, there is much easier software for making partition backups - Foxclone.

And yes, partition backup software should be running from Live CD/USB.
You cannot backup the drive that you booted from because you cannot backup a live filesystem – it might change during the backup and corrupt the backup. That means, if you have installed Clonezilla on your system disk, you will be unable to backup this disk.
