Re: [SOLVED] CONFIG_HZ setting

As Q4OS is essentially Debian, it should match the 32bit Debian version.

Re: [SOLVED] CONFIG_HZ setting

The simple way to find this is to go to /boot.
In there you'll find the kernel config file config-nnnnnnn.nnn
In that you can search for CONFIG_HZ
You will find multiple entries.
Mine shows:-
CONFIG_HZ_250=y
couple of lines
CONFIG_HZ=250

Re: [SOLVED] CONFIG_HZ setting

ues i checked it and its 250hz

i have added a new topic asking how to make this value 1000 and recompile the kernel.

for older 32 bit processors config_hz makes the desktop more responsive at the expense of higher power consumption but using performance governor may help finishing tasks quickly and maybe put prosessor in deeper low power state for microseconds.

I am trying to recompile the kernel with config_hz set to 1000

This is for a more responsive desktop experience on single core and/or low speed 32 bit computers  or low speed single core or multi-core 64 bit computers

But then another issue crops up that all update I will have to manually download and recompile the new sources only for this 1000 hz setting.

Is it possible for q4os to include the kernel with 1000 hz setting hosting it in its own repository. I have seen q4os repository in sources.list.d directory.

Thus this will enable seamless updates too.

As Debian 12 is also going to support 32 bit architecture, I feel this will be of much help and ease of updated if 1000hz kernel is available from q4os.

Re: [SOLVED] CONFIG_HZ setting

MX Linux ships default with kernel 1000hz and thats one of the key difference between it and other Debian based distros and it really  feels fast desktop experience on slower older 32 bit machines as I have tried it on via c7-d processor single core 1.6ghz
