Just installed q4OS 5.8 Basic and had a few questions. Tried installing the proprietary codecs but the computer just kept rebooting instead. Don't know how to fix that. I like to download videos from YouTube and installed yt-dlp. Next AI said to download a .deb app called Tartube for a graphical front end but that didn't work either. Was wondering if I'm using the correct video driver and wanted to know I'd find that?:
jacatone-hp5700microtower:~$ lspci | grep -i 'vga\|3d\|display'
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82Q963/Q965 Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 02)
Thanks.

Codecs
No idea, sorry. If you system is usable try to uninstall the codecs you have installed.
yt-dlp
I'm using the "Linux standalone x64 binary" (yt-dlp_linux ) downloaded from its GitHub homepage (https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp?tab=re … stallation). I've never been advised to download Tartube. If you have any problems, you can find installation information on its homepage: https://tartube.sourceforge.io/
Driver
The lspci command doesn't show which driver is installed.
I think it would be useful to give more details (see https://www.q4os.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=3502).

The codecs probably arent an issue, but are you running a Nvidia Quadro card in the system(common for this system)? This can cause an issue, because of its drivers. Your system is from 2007(HP 5700 microtower/Q963 chipset) and probably has a core 2 duo in it, plus Intel GMA 3000 integrated graphics(this IGP has been problematic for some users). Typically Intel drivers are included with Mesa and within the kernel but my guess is you are using the i915 with the Intel GMA 3000 IGP. SDince we didnt get any details on the specifics of your hardware, its a guessing game at this point.
Id try running a live media session with Q4OS to see if the system can run reliably, then avoiding the codecs at first to see if the system will boot.

If you go to the Q4OS software center and install the Flatpak option, youll be able to access an app called Video Downloader which can download videos from Youtube and other sources.
But lets get the system up and running reliably first.
