Do I really need fwupd running all the time? [SOLVED]

I just logged in to Q4OS after a break, and out of habit, checked what was running with the ps_mem python program. The largest program other than a browser was (is) fwupd, at 120 MB. Is there a real reason it's there? If not, how do I keep it from starting?

You don't need to have it installed, however it allows you to easily update some firmware, see
https://packages.debian.org/bookworm/fwupd
https://github.com/fwupd/fwupd

You can uninstall it:
$ sudo apt autoremove fwupd

So it's up to you, if you want to keep fwupd daemon installed.

Thanks, @q4osteam !  No worries -- it turns out it was perhaps a one-off. I killed it, and I've since rebooted a few times and it's no longer showing up.
