Re: Out of memory (?)

Tried again, did exactly as told, now it seems to look for partition Manager, in the top screen it says " look for KDE partition manager - Dophin", though in swedish. In the main area ofthe screen it says "no object match the search".
Units, in the lower left area, point to 73,9 GiB, my main desk.
Could I be missing an application ?   But you said this is installed as default ?

Re: Out of memory (?)

Youre not searching in Dolphin.  Open the application launcher, go to all applications and slide down the list to the apps that start with the letter K and you should see KDE partition manager.

Re: Out of memory (?)

Go down to the taskbar on the desktop and place your mouse cursor over the icon farthest to the left on the taskbar and it should say application launcher, click it and follow my instructions in the post above.

Re: Out of memory (?)

I think I found it !  It's in a software centre or something like that.  So what I see is Patriot Burst - 111,79 Gibyte (dev/sda),
and loop0 - 17,01 Gibyte (/dev/loop0).  Is loop0 my swapfile then ?

Re: Out of memory (?)

The software center is the application launcher that contains the apps installed on your system, with a search box. Ive never seen it referred to as loop0(should be listed as SDA2) but its probably your swapfile as 17gb is the same size as my swapfile.  What that means is the lack of memory you referred to couldnt have happened with the swap file being present.  It must have been a storage issue where you didnt have enough space. Remember that memory refers to the ram which isnt persistent and storage refers to hard drives where the data is persistent/permanent.

Q4OS also has the Q4OS software center ,Synaptic and Discover to actual ijnstall apps.

Re: Out of memory (?)

So, if I understand you right there is no point f.ex. expanding the swapfile ?
I guess I could try installing Prusa slicer again, and save what log is there when the problem occurs, which it should do ?

I see now loop0 also shows "ext4" and "used 12,06 Gibyte".

Thanks for your patience, I have learned some new things.
For the record I just missed a  new(used) 256 gb ssd at Tradera (ebay type), will look further, also perhaps adding the missing GB in ram,
its max 4 Gb. Will have to close for now, the time difference means I am well inside Tuesday....

Re: Out of memory (?)

I dont think expanding the swapfile will change things at this point. Keep an eye on the swapfile and see if you think its becoming an issue. You can use system monitor which is also in the application launcher under system, which will show you how much ram is being used for running programs. Ive never seen my system use the swapfile but you may be running more apps or apps that use more ram, so it might be an issue. Youre using 12gb of the swapfile surprised me a bit. Be aware of how many programs are open and being used after you boot and while youre using them.

Yes try to find a larger drive if possible. I think you can handle it now the situation now.
