Aquarius on Raspberry ?...

As Q4OS+Trinity is really wonderfull for low specs computers (well, it's wonderfull too for powerfull computers too, but it's not the point here),  is there any chances for a raspberry compatible Q4OS Aquarius realease ?
I tested a raspberry Pi5 yesterday, and I think it will be really good to have Q4OS Trinity on it, even the raspberry pi 4 is a good mini computer for everyday tasks, and I think Q4OS has clearly a role to play with these machines. I tried an armbian distribution on the Pi 5, and even succeed in installing Trinity DE. But clearly, it isn't as good as Q4OS...
I know there's a raspberry image of and old Q4OS version, even tried it, but it lacks some very good features of Aquarius.

Or maybe, at least the Q4OS setup script updated to work on bookworm arm versions ?

Re: Aquarius on Raspberry ?...

We don't plan to build Q4OS Aquarius for RPi at the moment. However it could be possible as soon as we will gain some potential RPi user base.

Re: Aquarius on Raspberry ?...

We consider to make an unofficial Q4OS for RPi build.

Re: Aquarius on Raspberry ?...

An unofficial build would be very cool smile Good way to test if there's a potential RPi user base like you said.

I really think Q4OS has it's place in the Raspberry pi world.
Until version 4, never got really interested in desktop interfaces for the raspberry, and I used a lot of them (3B,3B+,zeroW ...) for differents projects (automation/dynamic displays, little web servers and so on...) tongue But those projects were headless or only one app to display, so didn't really need desktop UI. And let's be honest, 3/3B versions weren't enough powerfull for a decent everyday desktop usage. (given the nowadays standards)

Since the 4th version, and more recently the version 5, I think there's now enough horsepower to drive a decent desktop usage (I mean web browsing, mail, libre office, youtube, videos playing etc...). So I tried different iterations of Raspbian/Raspberry pi OS, but apart the fact I find it ugly (totally subjective I know), it doesn't offer third of the functionnalities Q4OS brings on the table.
Q4OS+Trinity (doesn't know about plasma, but, hey, why not ?) checks all the marks to be a perfect candidate for Raspberry Pi desktop usage:
-low on ressources
-very customizable
-all the Q4OS tools & specific functionnalities that makes it a real modern & stable desktop

smile

In any case, If you make an unnoficial rapsberry release, I will be happy to test it thoroughly smile

Re: Aquarius on Raspberry ?...

I have a Rasperry 4 lying idle, I'd like Q4OS on it! Willing to go with an unofficial version and try to get it going.

Re: Aquarius on Raspberry ?...

We have started working on Q4OS 5 Aquarius for Raspberry Pi edition. It will be based on Raspbian Bookworm and will include Trinity R14.1.1 stable as the default desktop environment. The RPi image should be available in about a month.

Re: Aquarius on Raspberry ?...

Trying it right now smile I notice it seems to be based on a 32bits raspbian version, is there a reason for not using the 64bits one ?
(I know the 32bits version is generally recommended because it is compatible with all raspberry versions, but I think the target for Q4OS is mainly rpi4/5 ; maybe rpi3 ; and these versions are all 64bits compatibles).

Re: Aquarius on Raspberry ?...

Q4OS for RPi is based on Raspbian armhf/32bit edition as it's the default Raspbian option. It's more lightweight and compatible across all Raspberry Pi boards. Additionally, Trinity desktop for Raspbian is also compiled against this edition, so it's a natural choice.

Re: Aquarius on Raspberry ?...

Ok, I understand smile (No problem with that, just wanted to know why. Lightweight sounds good to me ^^ ^)
