Curiosity - Browsers, SSE and SSE2

Hello everyone,

i've just installed Q4os 2.6 on a really old Pc with an Amd Duron 850 MHz (in my plans, i was ready to donate it to my town's library)

Everything worked rather fine, much better than expected. Congrats to q4os developers for this wink .

But i've seen that browsing isn't possible with Konqueror on many pages (gmail for example), and both Firefox and Chromium won't work on this machine due to the lack of SSE2 instructions in the cpu.

Meanwhile i've found a p4 2.8 GHz that works even better (even if it sucks even more power, the Duron about 100 Wh, the p4 even 160 Wh...) but i would be pleased to know if there a currently supported browser for non sse2 cpus, i've seen there was a palemoon non-sse version but not updated anymore.

I've searched in this forum without finding a solution. And i repeat, only as curiosity, the problem is solved wink .

Thank you in advance.

You could still try to install Palemoon and check, if it works. Download installer from here https://sourceforge.net/projects/q4os/f … erimental/ . It's easily possible to proceed clean uninstallation from the start menu, if required.

Re: Curiosity - Browsers, SSE and SSE2

We have just tested the latest Palemoon 28.2.1 on a non SSE CPU i386/32bit computer, and it worked fine. You only need to use the installer from here https://sourceforge.net/projects/q4os/f … erimental/

Re: Curiosity - Browsers, SSE and SSE2

Tried too. Unfortunatly the scripts installs Pale Moon, but when i try to run it, i get

$ palemoon
Istruzione non consentita

Illegal instruction.

Maybe the Amd Duron lacks others instructions, i don't know.

Anyway no problem, and thank you for the reply!

Keep up the great work.
