It's possible to install the NVIDIA driver?

Hi, thank you very much for accepting me

I have a old computer and would like to install this wonderful operating system on it, but, I have a problem. The computer has an NVIDIA GEFORCE FX 5500 video card, it uses NVIDIA 173 driver. Apparently the assistant provided by the Operating System does not recognize it. I would like to know if there is the possibility of installing proprietary drivers in any way.

The generic driver (Nouveau) works very badly, only provides 17 fps

It's possible to install the NVIDIA (173) driver?

Thank you!

Please run in terminal:
$ nvidia-detect
and post back the output.

This is the information that throw me

david@potato:~/Escritorio$ nvidia-detect
Detected NVIDIA GPUs:
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: NVIDIA Corporation NV34 [GeForce FX 55                                                                                                                     00] [10de:0326] (rev a1)

Checking card:  NVIDIA Corporation NV34 [GeForce FX 5500] (rev a1)
Uh oh. Your card is only supported by the 173.14 legacy drivers series, which is                                                                                                                      not in any current Debian suite.

Re: It's possible to install the NVIDIA driver?

Unfortunately, it's not possible to easily install the driver in Debian/Q4OS, please read: "173xx driver doesn't work on recent kernels on several distros" https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topi … l-distros/

You could still try to use NVidia proprietary installer, so follow this guide:
https://linuxconfig.org/how-to-install- … etch-linux

Is GDM display manager the Q4OS's Display Manager?

No, the default is TDM, however you can use GDM as well.
