Problem attaching Screenshots

Is it possible to increase the permissible size of files that can be attached to posts in the forum. A simple screen shot is rejected as "too big".

Re: Problem attaching Screenshots

The maximum size of file to attach here is limited to 100kB, we will consider to increase it.

Re: Problem attaching Screenshots

One option for you is to use a service like postimage.org  you can upload images there and they will give you a link to paste here for the image. You are not required to register to use the service but there are benefits if you do. Hope This Helps

There is a link at this page to install "Simple image upload". Is this the way to do it? I assume you recommend it because it is safe to use. I am usually wary and uncomfortable about using this sort of storage facilities. Internet security is one of the major reasons I am with Linux. Please tell me this is safe to use.

Re: Problem attaching Screenshots

I do not use it for anything which isn't going to be public anyway (These posts are visible to anyone with a browser) so, security doesn't really seem an issue. As for safe, you are only using it to upload files to, not download from, therefore even if you use windoze I can't see how it wouldn't be safe.

Please note though I AM NOT a security professional, If you have concerns seek professional advice, I am just going on experience.

EDIT
Sorry I kinda missed the main part of the question, I just use the browse to upload part, I personally wouldn't download anything. Although I have created an account just to keep my files handy if I should need to use them again.

Re: Problem attaching Screenshots

The only problem I see, when use those picture hostings, is that my images can be deleted at any time without ability to restore. One Russian forum lost almost ALL screenshots and pictures when picture hosting they used suddenly stopped working. More than 2000 pictures... So it would be very good, if Q4OS team increase the attachment size limit to 500kb at least.

Before asking for help please read this topic: https://www.q4os.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=3502   If you have problems with WiFi network, try to install the Network Manager using Q4OS Software Centre.

Re: Problem attaching Screenshots

Redemes, I agree. It will be very helpful if they can do this. Today I managed to post 2 attachments by crafting round to keep them under 100KB. It was possible because what I uploaded were mostly black and white. I had to discard some screen shots I made because when a little bit of color came to them, they went above 100KB. So it took up a lot of time to make 2 screen shots.

I also had to make 2 posts because i couldn't put 2 attachments in one post. Hope the Team will check on this too.

Re: Problem attaching Screenshots

Tip: you can grab a screenshot of the current window only using 'Alt+PrintScr' keyboard shortcut. Paste it with 'Ctrl+v' .

'PrintScr' will take screenshot of whole screen.

Re: Problem attaching Screenshots

I use ksnapshot-trinity for screen capturing.
$ sudo apt-get install ksnapshot-trinity

Thanks, I tried this but the whole screen with an added pop-up window that I want to show you, goes over 100KB. That is why I took portions of the screen today to keep them below 100KB. Like Rademes I have been using ksnapshot. After installing q4os I found it somewhere in the computer!
