Re: thumbnails

Have you enabled previews? From konqueror (file manager) menu View -> Preview -> Enable Previews You will need to be in Icon view to see thumbnails.

Re: thumbnails

You could try using tumbler, I used to use it with Debian Xfce some time ago but have not tried it recently, I can't remember exact instructions for it but after installation you could type man tumbler to get an idea of any configuration you might need to do.

Re: thumbnails

I have never gotten previews in konquorer. All I get is the film strip icon. This is with previews checked or unchecked.
I think I said something about this long ago and (if I remember correctly) was told it was something debian did.

Re: thumbnails

Trinity desktop and Konqueror file manager cannot display thumbnails, or previews, on video files icons. This feature is not implemented in Trinity.

We can confirm a bug in Thunar, it doesn't recognize Crystalsvg icons at all. We will check and possibly report that at appropriate upstream developers.

We recommend you to use the Plasma desktop, as it's the default desktop for Q4OS. You could always switch into the Trinity desktop as a fast and lightweight, however not so advanced, alternative.

EDIT: You can get thumbnails and previews on video files icons in Konqueror, once you install the "libarts1-xine-trinity" package:
$ sudo apt install libarts1-xine-trinity

Somewhat off topic... Is Trinity still being considered the primary desktop for Q4OS or has Plasma taken that title?

The first option would be to set another icon set. If it's not what you want, you could try to configure colorization of Crystalsvg icons by setting icons effects.
First unlock advanced configuration options:
sudo kcmodules --unlock
Run Control panel > Appearance & themes > Icons > Advanced tab > set colorization effects for different icon types.

@Jaerrib
One of the Q4OS specific goals is the ability to have Plasma and Trinity desktop alongside each other installed. Users can switch back and forth between Plasma and Trinity. Both desktops can independently coexist side by side and don't interfere with each other. The key is that Trinity is an integral part of Q4OS, so any Q4OS installation, even with Plasma, bears Trinity desktop. In other words, you can have Q4OS without Plasma, but you can't without Trinity. Plasma is being the logical primary choice for most of users, so it's considered to be the default option, which is also obvious from the Q4OS downloads site.

Re: thumbnails

We have considered to include the "libarts1-xine-trinity" package into the Full profile for the Desktop profiler tool. It will be released in a next Q4OS release. Thanks for reporting.
