Fading scrollbar in GTK3 applications - eg Synaptic

A while back this thread was discussing issues with the GTK3 improvement of fading scrollbars obliterating the bottom line in Synaptic

Of course it impacts other GTK3 stuff as well.

Sadly I've long since stopped using Q4OS as I cannot run beyond Jessie on my hardware.

However, inserting the following new line in /etc/environment

GTK_OVERLAY_SCROLLING=0

has fixed this annoyance globally on my Ubuntu 16.04/Trinity setup - so may be worth a go.
