User attributes

Hi, I'm trying q4os and want to adjust it to fit my network. The user that was created during installation needs to have the UID changed to 500 (my network is old, from a time when UIDs started at 500). I have chged his UID, created a new group with the same name and GID and corrected the /etc/passwd so that the user has the right shell. He is also entered in /etc/group as a member of sudo.
When logging in as this user, a message box with "Could not start tdestartupconfig. Check your installation" appears and login is aborted, returning to the login screen. I assume some script needs adjusting and would like some tips, Thanks a lot.

Re: User attributes

Hi Bob,

I have had to do a similar thing myself a couple of times. I searched on the net before attempting it, and found this very useful guide:

https://muffinresearch.co.uk/linux-chan … -for-user/

Hope this helps you too,

Phil
