Original Post:
Anyone else have this happen?   I will reinstall Scorpion and GIMP only and test.  Then I will install XPQ4 and see if it conflicts with GIMP.

Finally getting around to installing Q4OS Scorpion on my computers and adding my favorite software.

Not sure what happen but, I installed XPQ4 and then installed GIMP.  GIMP removed XPQ4 and its fonts.

Then I did a sudo apt-get update, then sudo apt-get upgrade.  apt-get suggested I use autoremove and I did. (as a test)

QT Libraries were all removed
Network detection was removed
Q4OS API's were removed
It even wanted to remove the TDE files and I stopped it

So, I rebooted and ended up at the root login prompt.

Was able to login in using my user login I setup during Scorpion installation.

I then ran startx

The desktop came up

Network detection was gone but, Gimp was still working

smile  Oh, My,  Got to try this again and will document it better.

Reinstalled Scorpion

Then ran sudo apt-get update, then sudo apt-get upgrade.

Went to install Basic Desktop and got this warning:

WARNING: The following essential packages will be removed.
This should NOT be done unless you know exactly what you are doing!
q4os-desktop fonts-droid (due to q4os-desktop)
0 upgraded, 231 newly installed, 3 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
E: Essential packages were removed and -y was used without --allow-remove-essential.
Error: Simulation not successful.
Please re-login active session as soon as possible.

Any ideas what may be causing Desktop Profile to fail ?

You only need to run 'apt-get dist-upgrade' instead of 'apt-get upgrade' after Scorpion installation.

Thank You q4osteam!  I did run 'sudo apt-get dist-upgrade'.  It was short and fixed my problem.

XPQ4 and GIMP are both working under Q4OS Scorpion.

Really appreciate your help again.
