Yes, this is a very good guideline for optimising a q4os installation. In fact, this was my main reference when I started to work on my qperf script, I found some other optimisations to do, but there are some very good ideas here
I've got a question for you vanquishedangel, about the prelink and execstack part. Did you success using these tools on a bookworm installation, and is it relevant for bookworm in first place ? (don't know why not, but I notice you can't find these tools too for bookworm)
Sorry I was on vacation to spain/paris/amsterdam and did not see this until now. Also I lost my chromebook in amsterdam and I am trying to get it back from TSA lol. Anyway yes I was able to use them in bookworm. Some places may say that it is not relevant due to newer parts of the kernel handling the task however, the benefit was in reducing memory usage.
]]>don't forget to unmount prior poweroff:
$ sudo umount /tmp/mntpoint/
$ sudo losetup -d /dev/loopX
substitute "loopX" for a loop device number issued by the "losetup" command, for ex. "loop1".
]]>Simple enough in Windows by dragging a window outside of the screen, a tile appears where you can drop the window.
On Q4OS, I lost an hour or 3 messing with Xrandr and others methods which all failed me.
Fortunately in hindsight, because the solution was right there under my nose with the Plasma desktop.
Just need to drag the window with the Shift key pressed… and you can drop in the tile of choice.
To get to the tile definitions, just use the Super+T key.

]]>Will it be possible to cherry pick from the MX Tools in the 32 bit version of Q4OS Aquarius by using qrepoadd just like it is possible in Q4OS Gemini?
Yes, it will be possible in an upcoming Q4OS update. Meanwhile, you can add repository manually, just follow:
$ echo 'deb http://q4os.org/qextrepo/ bookworm-mx-cn main' | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/mxtools.list
$ sudo apt update
$ sudo apt install mx-snapshot
For 64bit machines, we recommend to use "s4-snapshot" application https://sourceforge.net/projects/q4os/f … ntal_apps/ , what is actually single application fork of mx-snapshot optimized for Q4OS/Debian

If it is not a secret, how much have you paid for this Chromebook? Last month I have purchased used DELL Latitude E5450 with Core i5-5300U CPU for 210 EUR, and it is working very well with Q4OS. Everything worked out of the box.
$167 (152 EUR) after tax, from walmart new (not used). Yours would be the better deal for power, but I needed something quick, just for work, portable, and long lasting battery. Also I do not have to upgrade parts, not that I could as the Samsung cb4 is not upgrade-able.
You can buy it used for $70 (64 EUR) on eBay. But I think yours is the better deal.
The issue with the sound is that the kernel was not complied for the sound card drivers in Chromebooks, even though the drivers are in the repo (they are the sof drivers).
The issue with installing any Linux on these Chromebooks is that Google does not want you to do that. So you have to get around the different write protections first (I did not know this and learned it on the fly).

sudo ln -s /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libheif.so.1 /usr/lib/libheif.so.1
I'm using XnView MP to replace Gwenview because the latter crashes on opening large jpeg files (created by darktable), which seems to be a long time unsolved known issue.
